Just got info that my long time idol Shawnte Harris(Da Brat) is out on work release. Now I know all my fems are happy. Since I can remember Da Brat was someone in the industry that us lesbians could look up to.
It's been a long minute since we've seen Da Brat. She has been serving three year sentence in a Georgia prison for hitting a waitress in the face with a Rum bottle after the two bumped into each other at Atlanta's Studio 72 club back in 2007.
She's currently on work release where her day job is "making windows" as she says in the video below. I'm unsure if she actually makes windows or sells them but, yeah.
She stopped in to see her old boss Jermaine Dupri while he was filming his 'Living The Life' web series.
She thanked her fans for the all the and the love and support she's gotten while locked up. She plans a full media onslaught with music and tv appearances once she's out.
Once she is released she still has to serve seven years probation and 200 hours of community service so let's hope she can avoid any more trouble.

Jesse James Says Childhood Abuse Led To Cheating
Posted by

I don't buy it...There's just no excuse what so ever...Here's what's being said:
Last night Sandra Bullock's soon-to-be-ex-husband, Jesse James, appeared on Nightline to come clean about his cheating scandal, divorce from Sandra, and that infamous Nazi photo. Was he able to redeem his image? Hm, maybe, unless people see his reasoning behind his actions as empty excuses.
Jesse explained that the root cause for his cheating was his childhood abuse:
I grew up with a huge amount of shame and fear and abandonment on my shoulders from a very young age and I think, you know, the way my mind rationalized [cheating], 'Well, you know, I might as well do whatever I can to like run her off cause she is going to find out what I am anyway and leave me anyway.
While that may sound like a big ol' sympathy excuse, Jesse does take full blame for everything that had happened and said that he "basically never felt good enough for anyone."
Jesse also admitted that he checked into rehab for sex addiction and anger management. While he said he went in "with a bit of an ego" he admits that he "cried more in rehab in the last 30 days than i have in my whole life."
Jesse also said that he "doesn't have a racist bone in his body" and that the picture of him doing the Nazi salute was meant to be a joke at the time, but that he can now look back and see how messed up it was.
FLOPtina Aguilera Postpones Her Tour Until 2011

Live Nation, the tour's promoter, released the following statement:
"Christina Aguilera's summer tour has been moved to 2011 due to prior commitments that the singer had made to her film, Burlesque, and to the promotion of her new album, Bionic. The singer felt she needed more time to rehearse the show and with less than a month between the album release and tour dates this wasn't possible."
Hmmm...Burlesque doesn't come out until November. Christina's first single "Not Myself Tonight" was a disappointment on the charts and the panned video didn't help. Trying to wait out Lady Gaga, because she'll probably die before that happens?

NYC Gay Pride 2010

Originating in New York City, the Gay Pride Parade is actually just one rainbow-colored event among many that goes on in NYC during Gay Pride Week.
Typically, the NYC Gay Pride Parade is held on the last day of the week in late June. Also held on the last day are the Gay Pride Festival, along with the annual Dance on the Pier following the parade wrapping up Gay Pride Week in a grand fireworks display.
This year, watch for the festivities to kick off in New York earlier in the week with the annual rally at Bryant Park at 42nd Street and 6th Avenue, continuing through to the parade — with a march down Fifth Avenue on June 27, 2010 — beginning at 52nd Street and heading south to Christopher Street in Greenwich Village
2010 marks the 41st Anniversary of the Stonewall Riots in 1969, and a reminder that the Gay Pride Parade was not always such a festive event.
The original purpose of the parade was to commemorate the riots at the Stonewall Inn, a popular gay and lesbian bar of the time that became the epicenter for violent protests against the unlawful treatment that gays and lesbians suffered at the hands of the New York City police department.
The Stonewall riots are now considered a major turning point in the Gay Rights movement, and the Gay Pride Parade still goes past the site every year to pay tribute to its significance.

Congress could vote to repeal ‘Don’t Ask Don’t Tell’ policy this week

Congress could vote as early as Thursday to repeal the controversial “don’t ask don’t tell” policy that prevents gays and lesbians from openly serving in the U.S. armed forces, reports ABC News
The White House on Monday signaled its support for a compromise amendment that would expedite a vote on the policy in Congress, but delay the implementation until the Pentagon has completed its almost year-long review of how to implement the repeal.
Democrats who want to repeal the military’s policy are in a race against the electoral clock. Some supporters of lifting the ban are concerned about putting the vote off until after this November, when Democrats are expected to lose seats in the House and Senate and possibly could even lose control of the House.
This Weekend Is DC Black Pride

The mission of Black Lesbian and Gay Pride Day, is to increase awareness of and pride in the diversity of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender in the African American community as well as support organizations that focus on health disparities, education, youth and families.
Here is some history about DC Black Pride that I've researched:
The African-American lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community of Washington, D.C. has always been full of life, and its history rich.
From 1975 until 1990, the Club House was a premiere community gathering space most notable for its annual Memorial Day weekend celebration, called the Children’s Hour. It was, of course, more than an hour — in fact, it usually went all night long. The Children’s Hour quickly became an institution that could not be missed — word of mouth about what was happening in D.C. during Memorial Day weekend spread up and down the East Coast and throughout the country. What began as a local highlight soon began pulling in folks from all over.
When the Club House closed its doors in 1990, many feared that the Memorial Day tradition would be lost as well. Three men — Welmore Cook, Theodore Kirkland and Ernest Hopkins — found themselves concerned with not just the lack of a place for the community to gather during the holiday weekend, but also with the growing epidemic of HIV/AIDS and its impact on their community. They envisioned creating an event that would continue the tradition of the Children’s Hour as well as raise much-needed funds for the HIV/AIDS organizations that served the African-American community in Washington and the surrounding area.
From that idea came the first Black Gay and Lesbian Pride, which was essentially collaboration among those three organizers, the DC Coalition of Black Lesbians and Gay Men, and the Inner City AIDS Network. On May 25, 1991, the first DC Black Pride festival was produced on the grounds of Banneker Field. Hundreds of people from the community came together for a relevant cause.
The following year, Black Pride increased its offerings as it took steps to truly become a weekend-long festival, with an event line-up, including a midnight cruise on the Potomac River, a Sunday prayer breakfast and the first Washington film screening of Marlon Riggs’ groundbreaking film “Tongues Untied.”
As DC Black Pride continued to grow in popularity and in programmatic offerings during the mid-nineties, organizers decided to make the event official by creating a board of directors, filing for incorporation and becoming a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization — Black Lesbian & Gay Pride Day, Inc. (BLGPD) was born. The all-volunteer governing body of this nonprofit would now oversee the planning and execution of DC Black Pride.
DC Black Pride was the catalyst for what is now referred to as the Black Pride Movement. Since the birth of DC Black Pride, thirty other Black Pride celebrations now take place throughout the world, many using DC Black Pride as a model. During 1998’s DC Black Pride Festival, Earl Fowlkes, the President of BLGPD at the time, met with the organizers of Black Prides from New York City, Detroit, Atlanta and several other cities to form the International Federation of Black Prides. That organization now has thirty members and serves as the principal body through which organizers find support, raise funds and share best practices.
Nearly 19 years after the first DC Black Pride drew 800 people to Banneker Field for a day themed “Let’s All Come Together,” more than 100,000 members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community of African descent and their allies have come to celebrate the beauty of a shared community and raise awareness and funding for HIV/AIDS.

GUILTY FOR BEING GAY

A gay couple has been convicted of gross indecency and unnatural acts by a court in Malawi. The men, Steven Monjeza, 26, and Tiwonge Chimbalanga 20, were arrested in December 2009 after getting engaged and making arrangements for their wedding this year, according to reports. They have been locked up since then and could face up to 14 years in prison. The couple’s arrest has been condemned worldwide, and sparked international talks about homosexuality in their country. According to Judge Nyakwawa Usiwa-Usiwa, the men were convicted of participating in unnatural sex acts. Homosexuality is illegal in Malawi, as it is in many African nations. Attorneys for the men insist their constitutional rights have been violated. They hope to take the ruling to the country's high court.
With that said, I feel it's a shame that people still till this day can't be openly happy (gay) with that one they love and want to be with. Gotta love America......Anywhere else I'll be miserable.

Women Need To Come With A Manual

What's funny is that I'm a woman who loves women. Yes, that makes me a .......(you fill in the blank)LOL. I've been dealing with different women for a very long time and till this day I DON'T UNDERSTAND THEM at all. I don't live my life like a man, because I'm comfortable with being a woman. I just happen to love them with everything in me. I have a soft heart for them. For one, they're soft and smell good. lollll...but sometimes I think like a man and get clueless when it comes to dealing with women. The things they say and do is confusing at times and only they know the reason for their actions. Women wants someone to automatically understand what they are trying to say.(key word is trying) This thing that they do with speaking in codes and riddles is driving me absolutely crazy. Maybe I'm different, but hell I'm not complicated like most. I want to know why is that?
Please ladies if you want someone to understand and get you, have a manual at the first "hello".

Is It Okay For a Woman To Ask A Man Out On A First Date?
Posted by

Here is a timeless question for the single girl/guy: Is it ok for a woman to ask a man out on the first date?
Is it okay for a woman to ask a man out on a first date?
We are in 2010 and times have changed drastically so it is absolutely fine to ask a man out on a date. It actually would be a breath of fresh air for some men and an ego boost. Some men get intimidated in asking a woman out and unfortunately both parties could be missing out on a good thing. The fear of rejection can lead to someone being apprehensive to ask someone out.
If there is someone you are thinking about asking out , go for it. The worst thing that can happen is that they say no. There are endless possibilities if he says yes.
Good Luck.
One Night Stand

Being that my time is limited on this comp, I’m taking a chance and give you one post.
I wonder what goes on in the mind of someone who’s completely okay with one night stands. Is it fear of committment? Men love sex, especially when there are no strings attached. And what really makes a player a capital-P Player (CPP) is his ability to secure sex within hours of meeting a woman.
Here Are Some Tips:
Make her feel comfortable
This is easier if you’re at a house party, where you’ll have some common ground (you both know someone there). However, don’t smother her.
Be confident
Remain a challenge at all times and be mysterious. If it helps, imagine you’re famous.
Don’t compliment her looks
Rather, compliment her dancing, for example. Use a Negative Hit to throw her off balance.
Say as little as possible
Keep the conversation going, but don’t make it all about you. Remember; those considered the best conversationalists are usually the best listeners — they get others to talk.
Casually find out what you need to
If she lives alone, for example, or if she has to work the next day. Get all the intelligence you can to make sure you put all the chances on your side.
Get close to her
Dance with her, touch her, lean in and whisper in her ear. Tease her and use sexual innuendoes. Make her understand you’re flirting, and that it’s not strictly a friendly approach.
Imply a potential one-night stand
Don’t come out and say it. Be subtle and let her wonder if it’s really what you’re referring to. Remain mysterious and hard to get.
Act aloof
Make her understand (while also reminding yourself) that you can always get it from someone else. Act as though you don’t care if she doesn’t give you what you want. Above all, don’t seem desperate. Confidence is key.
Last but not least….lolll
Create some suspense
This gives her a feeling of success when things do keep going forward, rather than making her feel preyed upon. Have fun with things and keep it light.
Give her a physical compliment
This is acceptable only when you’re closing the deal. Make her feel attractive and good about herself, and get her worked up about spending the night with you.
Pick a place
The first choice of venue, if possible, should be her place. She’ll be comfortable in her apartment. Also, you’ll be able to make a clean exit if you don’t feel like sleeping over.
The second choice should be to opt for neutral territory like a motel or hotel.
In third is your pad. In this case, I opted for my place because the interest she showed in my photos earlier was an obvious excuse for her to come over. You’ll often have to keep up the pretense that there are other reasons for the steps you’re taking, as women enjoy such games, and very few like to admit they’re actually on a booty call. To them, that seems crass.
Tip: Have a room at home that you like to show off, as a display for her to see. For example, you can decorate a room with pictures that you’ve taken from around the world. Women love pictures and traveling, and she’ll want to see them. Refer to it as your “Gallery.” This could also be a collection of any sort.
If all else fails, you can always do it in a car, a bathroom, outside…
Sorry I had to post this one… I often thought about this topic for some time…and began researching and writing.

10 Reasons Why Denzel Washington Is The Best Actor On The Planet
Posted by

12:53 PM
Again, I'm intitled to my opinion. Everything I write and post are my feelings and really don't care what other people think. That's just who I am. Don't judge me for feeling the way I feel. That's what makes me different. Shall I proceed....
There is not an actor alive who has shown the complexity of black life through film like Denzel Washington.
1. The Leader – In the 1992 film Malcolm X, it's easy to forget that you are watching a portrayal of the civil rights leader of the 1960s. Washington captivated moviegoers by turning in one of the most gut-wrenching performances to ever be captured on film. Although the Academy Awards snubbed Washington that year, his role as Malcolm X invigorated the black community and introduced X's ideology to a new generation.
2. The Defiant One – Washington's portrayal in 1989's Glory captured the essence of a rebellious soldier who would fight for his freedom at all costs. It was the first performance that catapulted him into the upper echelon of actors in Hollywood and it earned him the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor.
3. The Stage Presence – Like a boxer champ training at his old gym, Washington has gone back to Broadway to prove that his live performances can be more mesmerizing than his work on film. He was a hit in 2005's Julius Ceasar and could earn a Tony Award for August Wilson's Fences, which is currently on Broadway.
4. The Bad Guy – Known mostly for playing guys with sterling moral character, Washington proved that he could get downright dirty in Training Day. Washington released his inner thug and magnificently showed us how desire, fear and lack of compassion can fuel a sociopath. Washington earned his second Oscar for the role.
5. The Educator – In The Great Debaters, Washington played Wiley College professor Melvin B. Tolson. Tolson led the school's debate team to the national championship where they challenged Harvard in 1935. Washington will always be commended for bringing this powerful story to the big screen.
6. The Love Supreme – Washington was the quintessential lady's man and jazz savant in Spike Lee's Mo Betta Blues. From that moment on, he has remained the crowned prince and heartthrob for black women around the world.
7. The Giver – Washington and his wife, Paulette, have been huge givers in the community for years. He has served as a national spokesman for the Boys & Girls Club and he recently gave The Steve Harvey Foundation a $1 million donation.
8. The Coach – In Remember the Titans, Washington molded teenage boys into respectable men by teaching them the value of being leaders on and off the football field. Several business schools have directed students to examine Washington's leadership skills in the movie.
9. The Spiritual Messenger – In The Book of Eli, Washington's character, Eli, is the only man in the world with a copy of the Bible and he battles to protect the book from corrupt people who seek to use the book to manipulate others. Washington makes a bold statement by using art to show the power of religion and how it can be misused in the wrong hands.
10. The Biographer – Although Washington's most known for his portrayal of Malcolm X, he has also played other powerful black men in history. In Hurricane, he played boxing champ Ruben "Hurricane" Carter; Steve Biko in Cry Freedom; and coach Herman Boone in Remember the Titans.
8 Reasons Keyshia Cole Cut Her Family Off

1. Keyshia was not happy that her biological mother and sister, Frankie and Neffe, decided against her wishes to do a spin-off reality series for BET, “Frankie and Neffe.” The financial incentives were not, at least in Keyshia’s mind, sufficient to supercede further mindlessness and dysfunction that would be devoured by an unsympathetic audience.
2. Frankie’s proclivity for bizarre and inexplicable behavior continues unabated, providing ample fodder for media and blogs to feast upon.
3. Neffe’s uncanny skill for producing drama and babies. She and her longtime boyfriend, Soullow, already sport a small tribe — with more probably on the way soon.
4. Keyshia’s desire to start anew with her beau and a new baby on the way. She has reportedly moved to Cleveland to be near her boyfriend, Cleveland Cavaliers shooting guard Daniel “Boobie” Gibson. Keyshia has also been seen during the holidays engaged in charitable events and rocking an unmistakable baby bump.
5. Keyshia’s desire to re-brand herself as an R&B artist first and foremost. Right now, Keyshia is known as much for her show, “The Way It Is” and her family’s maddening antics as she is for belting out soul-stirring, chart-topping hits.
6. Frankie’s proven inability to police her behavior. According to media reports, Frankie runs her suburban Atlanta condo like a zoo.
7. If you recall, Keyshia did a cover shoot for a magazine with her adoptive mother, Yvonne Cole, indicating unequivocally whom the definitive female soul singer was closest to.
8. By cutting off her family, Keyshia has issued her own form of tough love to her family to finally get it together.
Can you really blame her. I can relate this is why I chose to post this.

Grass is not always greener on the other side

When you seem to be alittle stressed because you're not happy with the relationship at the moment, the next person walking by looks a lot better than your current. Just for a quick minute you feel good because obviously its someone new so the butterflies are going crazy in your stomache. That very first kiss is mind blowing than all of a sudden that feeling isn't there any longer and you realize that home is where you need to be.
What i'm trying to say is don't let a few minutes of stress stray you the the other direction and think that it's going to be better than what you have, cause in reality it isn't. A few butterflies isn't worth losing a lifetime of true love. Never mistake the two.
Especially when you think you hit the jack pot when in all actuallity you lost all you worth. Now that you're in a situation that you realize wasn't what you had anticipated goes downhill what do you do now is what you're left with. Grass is not always greener on the other side.

Solar Was Guru’s Abusive Gay Lover?
Posted by

12:23 PM

The true nature of Guru’s relationship with Solar has been a hot topic of debate since Guru went into the hospital and Solar began acting on his behalf.
Rapper Jacky Jasper, who is best known for his work with Kool Keith and also says he booked shows for Guru and Solar, claims to have the real story.
Jacky took to his blog and laid it all out. Is he telling the truth? Only time will tell, I suppose.
…Here’s something what [sic] you may not know (which I always knew) Guru, whose real name is Keith Elam, was a homosexual, and he started dating a well-known homosexual from Brooklyn New york named “DJ Solar”. Solar (real name John Barry Mo’Sher) ended up breaking up “Gang Starr” because he pulled Guru away from the talented “DJ Premier”, word is Solar wanted Guru all for himself. I know this because I used to book shows for “Guru & Solar” and dude use to beat on “Guru” I swear!!! I personally witnessed someone walking in on Solar giving Guru a proper beating behind closed doors.Sources close to HSK were touring Europe with Guru, Solar, and DJ Doo Wop & Kool Keith with Kutmasta Kurt in Fall 2005. At that time the groups had an extended week long stay in the Spanish Canary Islands off the coast of Africa. Guru happily lounged with Solar in his flip flops and swimming trunks downing Hennessy straight and snorting blow by the eightball.
Solar denied all rumblings of a romantic relationship between he and Guru in an interview with MTV News.
Jacky also posted up scans of both Solar & Guru’s passports, proving false that Guru was 43 when he died, when he was actually 48. This clears up a bit of in-office-discussion regarding an interview from 1998 that we posted earlier where Guru’s age was given as 36.
In another post, which has since been taken down, Jacky claims that Guru’s father, a retired Massachussets superior court justice, sent the police to reclaim Guru’s body and have it sent back to Massachussets.
Reports are coming into HSK that when Guru’s father, the Honorable Harry J. Elam, a former prominent lawyer from Boston and a retired Massachusetts superior court justice, called to recover the body from John “Solar” Mo’Sher, Solar said that he was taking the body upstate for a private memorial.
Judge Elam immediately made claim to the body and asked Solar to “return the body at once”, to which Solar replied that he would return the body if Elam Sr. called off the Elam nephew from continuing to make statements and videos about Solar. Claims which Solar continues to call false.
Judge Elam’s reply, “I don’t have time for these childish games, send my sons body home immediately.”
Following this exchange the police were sent and Guru’s body was recovered and is currently on its way back to Boston, to his family and to lay in honor as they see fit.
Whoa!
What do you think about all of this? Let me know in the comments!
